Dhenkanal: Two officials of the Energy Department were suspended on Tuesday in connection with the recent Bhuban bus accident, in which six passengers were electrocuted when the bus they were travelling in came in contact with an 11 KV live wire near Sishumandir Square in Bhuban NAC area of Dhenkanal district.

The two officials, SDO Ullas Chandra Nath and JE Hrushikesh Das, were suspended for dereliction in duty. However, the Odisha State Electricity Corporation Engineers' Association (OSECEA) has strongly opposed the dismissal of the two officials. The body warned that it would launch non-cooperation movement from October 1 if the suspension is not withdrawn.

Notably, the incident had taken place on September 20 when the bus going to Kamakshyanagar from Cuttack came in contact with the live wire while taking a diversion due to traffic congestion on the Bhuban-Kamakshyanagar route. The inquiry was conducted by the engineer-in-chief of the Energy department.
