Bhadrak: To combat any further instigation of violence, the State government has today blocked social media platforms like WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook for 48 hours in Bhadrak town and adjacent areas.
The social media sites wouldn’t work from 7 pm today. Besides, all educational institutions in the town will remain closed on Monday.
The district administration has set up control room for the convenience of residents and appointed Tihidi Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Manoj Rout as the new Bhadrak Town IIC. A toll free number – 1077 – has been issued along with a helpline number 06784-251881 for assisting people in the town.
Two companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) are already deployed in Bhadrak. As many as 36 platoons of police force have also been deployed to maintain peace; however, ire among residents is growing as the administration is yet to arrest the miscreants involved in the communal flare-up. Some locals are even praising the administration's efforts in maintaining law and order in the town.

"We will lift the prohibitory orders once normalcy is maintained. All security arrangements are just to ensure communal amity in the town," said Home
Secretary Asit Tripathy.
ADG of Police (Law & Order) Binyanand Jha said, "The prohibitory orders will remain till 7 am tomorrow and decision will be taken only after assessment of the situation tonight."
The Cyber Cell of Crime Branch is investigating into the misuse of social media following the riot. The cyber police cell is tracking down the IP addresses of the laptops used for spreading such rumours and has also sought details from WhatsApp group administrators.
The administration today lifted the curfew from 8 am to 11 am and reimposed it till 7 am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has appraised Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the Bhadrak situation on the sideline of the Inter-State Council.
