Bhadrak collector submits report, Property worth Rs 9 cr damaged

Bhadrak: Property worth Rs 9 crore was damaged during the recent outrage in Bhadrak town, mentioned Bhadrak Collector Gyana Ranjan Das in the damage assessment report submitted to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central division, AB Otta this morning.

Talking to OTV exclusively, the Bhadrak Collector said, "Of the 30 wards in Bhadrak town, the unrest has caused damages to 440 business establishments including 180 makeshift shops and 10 pucca houses located in 27 wards."

Das further stated damage was caused to three different religious institutions during the unrest which also finds a mention in the report.

On the present condition in Bhadrak town, the Collector said, as the town is coming back to normalcy slowly, the period of curfew relaxation has been extended to 14 hours a day from 12 hours. “Subsequently we will review the situation and take a decision unanimously on lifting the curfew,” the collector added.

"After the state government grants compensation package for the outrage-affected persons in the town, further steps will be taken to help the beneficiaries identified by the district administration," Das elaborated.

Regarding the Chief Minister's announcement for establishment of a vending zone in Bhadrak town, the district Collector said, "A field inspection is going on under the supervision of municipality, tehsildar officials and the Sub Collector following which rehabilitation process will be undertaken as per the Urban department’s Street Vendor Act."

Meanwhile, curfew was eased in the town from 6 am to 8 pm today. A total of 38 platoons of security personnel including the central paramilitary forces are still stationed in the town.

The Chief Minister had ordered the district administration on April 12 to submit an assessment report on the Bhadrak unrest within three days.
