Bhubaneswar: Bollywood director from Odisha Nila Madhab Panda was in the city for the promotion of his upcoming movie ‘Kadvi Hawa’. Odishatv.in caught up with him to know more about the film and his experience working with Ollywood producer Akshay Kumar Parija. Here are the excerpts…

  • On ‘Kadvi Hawa’ and its importance

I grew up in Odisha and have witnessed drought, flood etc. It was happening earlier too, but in last 10-15 years it has been really crazy. The impact and the aggression of disaster happening is really bad. The frequency of flood, drought and cyclone is really alarming. It is not just here. This story is based on Chambal and Odisha. But we see the Chambal story actually occurring in California and we also see the Odisha story repeated in many parts of the USA. It is everywhere in the world. It’s a story about two people coming from two extreme conditions and difficulties faced by them.

  • On characters of the movie

The Odia character, played by Ranvir Shorey, comes from Satbhaya village of Kendrapara which is losing its villages due to sea-level rise. Sanjay Mishra is playing an old blind man in Chambal who can see the disaster coming and his family getting wiped out.

  • Expectations from the film

We have already got fantastic response with more than 10 million viewers on social media. We are hoping that we will have great success after the release of the movie.

  • On projecting Odisha in Bollywood

Being an Odia,  I'm always happy to bring Odisha into my movies. I always love to do it. My next film is ‘Halka’ which will be released next year.

  • Working with Akshay Kumar Parija

I am absolutely happy to work with him. Parija Babu is a fantastic producer. Many people should support him. You need a producer who is really protective and he is one of them. I think he will do really great. Whatever he is doing in Ollywood is certainly fantastic.
