Bhubaneswar: In probably the last resort to begin academic session at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College in Baripada, a team from the Medical Council of India (MCI) will visit the campus for the second phase assessment of the infrastructure.

As per official sources, the MCI team is likely to visit Baripada medical college by May end.

The development came after Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda discussed the issue with Odisha Health Secretary and other officials in presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.

Pradhan, however, on Thursday blamed Odisha Government for inordinate delay  in the process to start academics at Baripada Medical College.

In a tweet, the Union Minister said that as Odisha Government failed to submit a compliance report in time, the second visit of Medical Council of India (MCI) to Baripada Medical College could not take place.

“Now that Odisha Govt has submitted the compliance report, hopefully the session will start in time after MCI's 2nd Visit sometime in May,” Pradhan tweeted.
