“Baripada Medical College is a dream come true for the people of Mayurbhanj. I am satisfied with how the construction work is going on and will review the progress every two weeks,” said Patnaik.

Patnaik further said that the Medical College will become functional this educational year.

Earlier, uncertainty had loomed large over the admissions owing to the tug of war between Odisha Government and Medical Council of India (MCI) over non-issuance of Letter of Permission (LoP).

The Supreme Court’s Mandate Oversight Committee on May 14 gave its green signal for intake of students at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College in Baripada after Odisha Government had sought the former’s intervention.

The conditional approval was subsequently granted for admission of 100 MBBS undergraduate seats for the 2017-18 academic session
