Bargarh: Unidentified miscreants shot at a youth belonging to Bihar and robbed him off Rs 18,000 cash and mobile phone late on Wednesday night.

As per allegations, two youths belonging to Chapra in Bihar were on the way to Puri on a motorcycle last night when two unidentified miscreants came on a bike and intercepted them at Haladiapalli Chhak. In an attempt to rob them, the miscreants fired at them and after one of the youths was injured in attack, they fled with their mobile phone, cash and a motorbike.

After receiving information about the incident, Bargarh police arrived at the spot and took the injured to the hospital. Later on the injured youth was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Medical College and Hospital (VIMSAR) at Burla as his condition became critical.

“We were stopped and asked to give away all our belongings. They took everything from us and then while leaving shot at us. A bullet hit my brother while I jumped over a nearby bush,” said one of the victims, Rahul Singh.

“As per allegations, two youths from Bihar were going to Puri and at Haldiapalli Chhak they were stopped by two persons. The miscreants took away Rs 18,000 cash and mobile phone from them. They also fired at the youths and fled with their motorcycle. We have set up check posts everywhere and are investigating the matter,” said SDPO, Suresh Nayak.
