Khurda/Puri: A Bangladeshi minor has brought harassment allegations against authorities of 'Asha Kiran', a NGO situated at Jatni in Khurda district. The minor boy gave such a statement, after being rescued in Puri, before the Puri Child Welfare Committee (CWC). However, authorities of 'Asha Kiran' have denied the allegation.

The minor boy, a resident of Gopalganj district in Bangladesh, alleged before the Puri CWC that he was attacked in the NGO and his leg was broken. He gave the statement after being rescued from Puri railway station on March 8, said Puri CWC authorities.

Puri CWC has currently sought a report from Khurda Child Protection Committee in connection with the allegation.

Talking to media persons, Chairman of Puri CWC, Sidharth Ray, said, "When the boy was rescued he was not in a good walking condition and during counselling he said being hit with a brick on his leg. Currently we are performing his physiotherapy and he is recovering."

On the other hand authorities of 'Asha Kiran' said that the boy had fled from their custody by jumping over the boundary wall, which was captured by a CCTV. The NGO even alleged that it is a conspiracy to malign their image.

Chief of 'Asha Kiran', Hochimin Shastri, alleged before media persons, "You can see in the CCTV that the boy has run away professionally by jumping over the boundary wall. After running away he was kept by Manoj Swain who tried to blackmail me and demanded money. When I did not give him the money, they conspired against me."

Banishree Pattnaik, District Child Protection Officer, Khurda, said, "His running away is true, that is seen in the CCTV, but the truth about the allegation can only be established after the completion of the enquiry."
