Cuttack: The historic annual Bali Jatra festival will start from November 4 and continue till November 11 this year. While the administration has begun preparation for the event, the stall rentals for traders have been increased by Rs 2 per square feet.

After a visit to the festival ground, Cuttack Collector Sushant Mohapatra today informed that the stalls will cost Rs 24 per square feet this year compared to Rs 22 last year.

The Bali Jatra will be held on two grounds adjacent to Mahanadi embankment covering an area of 47 acres including 37 acres of lower ground and 10 acres of upper ground.

Last year the East Zone Bench of National Green Tribunal (NGT) had restrained the Cuttack district administration from allotting sites to erect makeshift stalls on one of the grounds believing that the same is riverbed. Later the NGT gave green signal to the festival.
