Cuttack: Four more victims of the Bahabalpur, Balasore, cracker unit explosion succumbed to their injuries at the SCB hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment today.

The deceased were identified as Ranjit Samanta, Ramapada Maiti, Nimainlal Pradhan and six-year-old Nadini Pradhan of Bahabalpur village.

Yesterday, six persons, including a minor, died on the spot following the explosion while one breathed his last at the SCB hospital.

On the other hand, four injured in the explosion are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The thatched house of Golak Pradhan where crackers were being made caught fire after the explosion. Pradhan, his son and four others including two minors died on the spot.

Fire brigade personnel reached the spot within 15 minutes and rescued the victims and sent them to the nearby hospital. Later one injured died at the local hospital.

Balasore Collector Pramod Das said, “From preliminary investigation it seems like all the six, including a child, whose dead bodies were recovered from the spot were killed after an accidental explosion while making crackers. The fire engulfed every one present inside the thatched house,”

Following the incident, CM Naveen Patnaik announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. Moreover, an assistance of Rs 50,000 and free medical treatment was announced for the injured.

Yesterday, in another such mishap, a minor girl was killed while four others were injured critically in explosion while they were making crackers at Bilipada near Pipili in Puri district.
