Balasore accident: ASI killed after being hit by truck in Jaleswar

Jaleswar: In a tragic incident, an Assistant Sub-inspector was killed when a truck hit him from behind while he was on duty at Haladipada Bypass here, in Balasore district, on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as ASI Kuanra Majhi.

According to reports, when police staff along with the ASI of Basta police station were removing a truck that was stranded on the NH following an accident with the help of a crane, a potato-laden bus from West Bengal hit the ASI from behind. Two other staff, including the driver, were injured in the incident and later admitted to Balasore district headquarters hospital (DHH).

The truck driver fled the spot after the incident leaving the vehicle behind. Investigation is on, police said.
