Bhubaneswar: Police inaction in the attack on Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda at Mahanga during an overhead water project inauguration has been fueling resentment among leaders cutting across party lines in the state. After Sajjan Sharma, BJP's Samir Mohanty today questioned lack of action by the state government in the matter while BJD veteran Damodar Rout also criticised non-intervention of police in the matter.

In a press conference, BJP vice president Mohanty questioned if the police force in Odisha belongs to BJD or the state government. The leader also questioned if Naveen has done his duty in this matter. "The MP has already said that the attack happened in police presence. Is this not a case of poor law and order situation?" asked Mohanty.

Meanwhile, BJD leader Dama Rout said police should have registered a case suo motu and just like the egg hurling incident on the CM's vehicle, this incident of egg and stone pelting should have been taken up by the police.

However, in a fresh tweet today MP Baijayant Panda said he will not file an FIR and hinting at Surya Patro's comment that 'law will take its own course' in the matter he said he is curious to see how that will happen.

The MP tweeted: "Wont file FIR. Curious 2c how "law will take its own course" on violence known 1day in advnc, lettr to cops, happnd in thr presence & on TV"
