Kendrapara: BJD heavyweight and MP Baijayant Panda today accepted the challenge from former health minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak's camp, which openly threatened the parliamentarian to prevent him from attending chief minister's programme at Mahakalapada in the district today.

Obviously referring to the ex-minister, who is representing Mahakalapada Assembly constituency, Panda said Nayak's camp threatened him against participation in CM event. "Associates of a colleague who recntly "resigned on moral grounds" threatening me agnst participation today in a Mahakalpada event w/CM", Panda tweeted.

The MP further said that he is not afraid of goons and has vowed to attend CM's programme under any circumstances.

"I'm not afraid of goondas. it is the job of police to control them. I'll go today & continue my 10+ days/month in constituency", tweeted Panda.

Meanwhile, supporters of the MP have apprised local police and administrative officials of the matter.

Notably, chief minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to visit different places of Kendrapara district and inaugurate welfare projects. He is also scheduled to address a public meeting at Mahakalapada.

MP Panda and local MLAs will accompany the chief minister during his visit to the district.

Security has been beefed up in the district ahead of Patnaik's visit.The district collector also held a preparatory meeting for CM programme.
