Paralakhemundi: An Ayush doctor of Khajuripada Community Health Centre (CHC) was found dead under mysterious circumstances today at his residential quarters under Serango police limits of Gajapati district.

The deceased doctor has been identified as Subodh Kumar Rath of Polasara in Ganjam district and is survived by his wife and a daughter.

According to sources, Rath was living alone in his official quarters when the incident occurred, while his wife and daughter are away on a visit to Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per reports, an employee of Khajuripada CHC had gone to call Rath at his quarters at around 9 AM. He knocked the door but as no one replied he returned. Later, he again went at 11 AM. After repeatedly knocking the door, when no one answered he peeped into the house through the window that was open and found Rath lying on the floor in an unconscious state. Later, he informed the matter to Khajuripada police.

Subsequently, officials of Khajuripada police outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Police sources suspect that Rath might have committed suicide by consuming poison as foam was oozing out of his mouth.

However, the exact cause behind the death will be ascertained after post-mortem, informed police sources.

Meanwhile, a case of unnatural death has been registered and investigation is on. Family members of Rath have also been informed, said sources.
