Auto driver given kneel punishment after vehicle hits girls

Cuttack: An auto driver was forced to kneel down by locals in Salepur area after his vehicle allegedly hit some girls who were jogging today morning.

According to reports, the auto driver, a resident of Badachana area of Jajpur picked up some passengers in his auto-rickshaw who were travelling to Salepur.

But after dropping the passengers, driver reportedly, in an inebriated condition, hit some girls while they were on a morning walk. Irate locals caught the accused and made him kneel on the road.

Later, police rescued the driver and enquired about the incident. Preliminary investigation revealed that the auto driver was intoxicated and looted by the passengers, police said.
