Bhubaneswar: The State government today issued the notification on a probe by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Northern range) Pramod Meherda into the attack on Union minister Santosh Gangwar’s vehicle at Bargarh last month.

The notification invites affidavits from people that can be submitted either at the office of RDC or Bargarh ADM. Verbal statements will be recorded on July 28, the notification said.

Notably, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered an inquiry by the RDC into the attack on the Union Minister during the Bargarh visit. The report will be submitted in two months’ time.

Earlier, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh had reprimanded the State and urged to take action against those involved in the attack.

Meanwhile, Bargarh BJP activists today gheraoed the SP office demanding the arrest of BJD MLA Debesh Acharya. Some of the party activists were arrested while trying to barge into the SP office.

Cuttack BJP Yuva Morcha chief S R Mitra, vice president Asutosh Das and another youth leader Satyaban Das were taken into preventive custody and were detained at the local Mangalabag police station from where they were released on PR bonds after the minister left the city in the afternoon.
