Attack on Telkoi MLA: 7 accused arrested

Keonjhar: Harichadanpur police arrested seven persons last night in connection with the attack on Telkoi MLA Vedavyas Nayak at a party meeting held recently.

According to sources, police had lodged FIRs against 12 persons in this case. Under the direction of the district SP, SDPO Ghatagaon and Harichandanpur police conducted joint raids at various places and arrested the seven accused. The arrested are being interrogated at the Ghatagaon SDPO office today.

Notably, MLA Nayak was seriously injured after a group of party workers assaulted him during a party meeting at Gundichaghagi under Ghatagaon block on August 28. He was rushed to the Harichandanpur Community Health Centre (CHC) and was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

BJD district president has suspended three party workers, Bishnu Prasad Biswal,Panchanan Sahu and Bikash Bhitiria for their involvement in the incident.
