Assault on women on rise: Two more minors raped

Kendrapara: In yet another shameful incident after the Baripada Jagannath temple case, two minor girls, one of them a Dalit, were allegedly raped in separate incidents in Derabish police station under the jurisdiction of Kendrapara district in Odisha.

While the 12-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Badamangrajpur village, another 16-year-old was raped in Kansaripatana village under the Derabish police station area.

Inspector Derabish police station Umakanta Nayak said police have swung into action following the complaint lodged by victims’ parents. One of the suspects in the Dalit girl case has been detained.

Both the survivors were medically examined . Cases have been registered under sections- 4 and 6 of   Protection of Children  from Sexual Offence Act 2012, Indian Penal Code section- 376 (Rape), section-557 (Assault or criminal force in attempt wrongfully to confine a person), section-342 (wrongful confinement), section-506 (criminal intimidation) in this connection, police added.
