Bhubaneswar: A day after Ollywood actor Usasi Misra met DGP RP Sharma here in connection with the assault on her by a group of people at Derang in Angul, police swung into action and arrested main accused Indramani Sahu and his son Rudit Kumar Sahu this morning.
Two other persons identified as Dushmanta Sahu and Sudhanshu Shekhar Nayak were also arrested on charges of harbouring the criminals.
"Efforts are on to nab Ajit Kumar Sahu -the third accused named in the FIR," said SP Angul Mitrabhanu Mohapatra
Usasi, in her complaint filed at Kaniha police station on April 23, had accused Sahu and his two sons of physical, verbal and sexual assault. Acting on the complaint, police had arrested Indramani’s driver Dusmanta Behera the same day.
Last evening, Usasi accompanied by some members of Cine Critics Association had met the DGP alleging delay on the part of police in arresting the accused. She had requested Sharma to expedite the investigation and arrest the culprits immediately.
It may be mentioned here that accused Sahu had also filed a counter FIR against Usasi at the Talcher SDJM court accusing her of manhandling him and issuing death threat.
On the fateful day, Usasi, who was on her way to perform in an Opera organised by Eastern Blue, was assaulted by a group of people.
Besides blaming police inefficiency, the actor had accused the Jatra management for failure in providing her security during the show. Meanwhile, the reason behind the fiasco is still unclear.
