Berhampur: The miscreants involved in the brutal murder of Chhatrapur Councillor from ward no.6 Laxmidutta Pradhan have been ‘identified’, said Director General (DG) of Police, RP Sharma on Sunday.
Moreover, it is suspected that Laximdutta was killed over ‘past enmity’ while detailed probe in connection with the incident is on, the DGP informed.
“Three special teams led by Ganjam SP have been formed to nab the miscreants who went absconding after committing the crime,” said Sharma.

According to Sharma, the miscreants had soon escaped from the spot after hacking the councillor to death outside his residence in LIC Colony in Chhatrapur at around 1 pm yesterday.
Though Laxmidutta’s younger brother Debidutta had also come to his rescue, the assailants didn’t spare him.
Later the profusely bleeding duo was rushed to Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur where Laxmidutta succumbed to his injuries.
