Odisha train mishap: Suvendu Adhikari questions timing of compensation distribution by Mamata Banerjee
Bhubaneswar: Unfazed by the controversy surrounding the ‘gender case,’ Odia sprinter Dutee Chand claimed bronze in women’s 100mts sprint, while Odisha’s hope were shattered after Amiya Mallick was disqualified in the semi-final of 100mts men’s event for making a false start.
“I am very happy for getting a medal at the Asian Athletics Championships here. It was raining and the track was wet and I was nervous. I hoped for World Championship qualification here but there are other events wherein I can target qualification,” said Dutee.
However, it was heartbreak for national record holder Amiya Mallick in the 100mt men’s event who jumped the start and was handed over disqualification.
CM Naveen Patnaik was at the Kalinga Stadium today to support the athletes today.
