Bhubaneswar: Odia athlete Jauna Murmu today showed impressive performance and entered the final in 400 metres hurdles in the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships at Kalinga Stadium here.

Murmu came second in the heats and made to the final in the mega event.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Odia sprinters Dutee Chand and Amiya Mallick today who have stormed into final rounds in the championships.

"I am excited and will give my 100 percent to clinch a medal for India at the games," said Murmu.

Anas qualified for the final of the men's 400 metre while Murmu qualified for the final after finishing second in Heat 2 of the 400m hurdles.

While Dutee entered the semis of women’s 100 m event with a timing of 11.40 sec, topping in her heats, Amiya Mallick recorded 10.48 sec in his heats and made it to the final rounds.

On the first day of the event, G. Lakshmanan and Manpreet Kaur have won gold medals for India in men’s 5000m and women’s shotput respectively. In others, India's Sanjeevani Yadav and Vikas Gowda bagged bronze medals in women’s 5000 m event and men's discus throw respectively.
