Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police (CP) today issued an advisory asking commuters to avoid several roads leading to Kalinga Stadium during the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship from July 5 to July 9 in the city here.

For the opening ceremony, restrictions on traffic would apply to Bidyut Marg road from Jaydev Vihar. Vehicles coming from NALCO square will be diverted to Acharya Vihar via Jaydev Vihar while vehicles from Sastri Nagar will be diverted to Sachivalaya Marg. The restriction will only be followed from 3pm to 10 pm on July 5.

There will be no movement of vehicles on the service lane adjoining flyover bridge on NH-16 from Acharya Vihar to Jaydev Vihar from 3 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday.

Gate No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9 will remain open for entry from 3 pm onwards on Wednesday. The CP has asked the spectators to arrive at the entry gate at least 2-3 hours prior to the commencement of the inaugural ceremony to prevent congestion.

Invitees with vehicle pass will have to park their vehicles in specified areas allotted for parking and enter Kalinga Stadium through Gate No. 9.

Media personnel can enter the Stadium through Gate No. 2 only with their permitted vehicles. Pass and ticket holders can enter through Gate No. 1, 3 and 4.

Keeping in mind the traffic restrictions, parking lots have been designated for the pass and ticket holders at Janata Maidan, Nayapalli Ravanpodi ground and NICCO Park road. Beherasahi ground near Gate No. 1 can be used for parking bikes only.

The CP has requested commuters to plan their movements accordingly for a hassle-free journey. Meanwhile, an advisory on regulation of traffic for July 9 will be issued later.
