Puri: The high level technical committee of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will decide on the permanent repair of Garbha Griha, the sanctum sanctorum of the Sri Jagannath temple, and Jagmohan, the hall facing the 12th century shrine, in the next couple of days, Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Suresh Mohapatra informed after a meeting of the expert panel.

The SJTA head said the technical aspects of the repair work were discussed in details in the meeting.

“The ASI DG and other senior officials, including experts of Chennai and Kharagpur IITs, gave their opinions on the repair of Jagmohan and Garbha Griha. We will soon take a decision after reviewing technical aspects,” Mohapatra said.

“Since we have a few more days on hand, we will decide on the works we must complete before the Niladri Vije of the Trinity. We have discussed the matter. We will decide on this within a couple of days,” ASI Joint Director General (DG) SB Ota said.

Officials of the shrine administration and Works department were also present on the occasion.

On Friday, the ASI team led by Ota, had visited the temple and reviewed the repair work of Jagmohan. Technical experts from Kharagpur, Chennai and Roorkee IITs had also inspected the ongoing work and condition of Grabha Griha.

After reviewing the situation, the team had told media that there is no need for repair of the Garbha Griha.
