Bhubaneswar: The members of Odisha Kala ‘O’ Krida Sikhyaka Mahasangha (A Union of Art and Physical Education instructors) staged a unique demonstration today in front of the official residence of School & Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra demanding regularisation of jobs.

While few teachers were playing various musical instruments others were singing to press for their demands that include regularisation of jobs of all the part time instructors appointed at Upper Primary Schools, implementation of  terms and conditions for appointment of part time teachers and providing training facility to untrained Physical Education teachers.

Later in the day, the agitating teachers were detained by police. "The minister does not have time to meet us, he is ashamed therefore using police force to displace us from here ," said an agitating teacher.

The agitation of the Mahasangha comes a day after School and Mass Education department assured revision of minimum qualification for primary teachers from matriculation to Plus II and regularisation of the jobs of Sikshya sahayaks in 6 years.
