Bhubaneswar: From spreading smiles to the day-to-day struggle that a woman undergoes in her daily life- all of it was aptly showcased at a painting exhibition held on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Odisha Modern Art Gallery on Thursday.

All the paintings highlighted different social messages to promote gender equality and highlight the atrocities faced by women in the society. As many as 44 women artists had teamed up to showcase their talent through canvas at the exhibition ‘Art Era’.

"Many government and private organisations are coming up with programmes on International Women's Day but there is hardly anything done in the art sector for female artists. Our organisation is providing platform to women artists to display their paintings in this art exhibition for the last 11 years," informed Founder of Odisha Modern Art Gallery, Tarakanta Parida.

"This is for the second time that I am participating in this exhibition here. It's a nice thing that OMAG has been promoting female artists of the state for last 11 years. It is a very nice experience for me," said painter Swati Choudhury.

An art discussion and workshop will also be organised during the exhibition "Art Era" which is scheduled to conclude on March 13.
