Bargarh: BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra, who is currently lodged at Sohela Jail in connection with the Banabira firing case, was shifted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla today after he complained of chest pain.

Mishra was arrested on April 15 in connection Banabira firing case in which Subrat Singh, brother of Minister of Sushant Singh was attacked ahead of the Bijepur bypoll on February 22. Three persons including the minister’s brother were injured in the incident whereas driver of Subrat Singh, Dileswar Sahu died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The BJP on April 16 staged dharna in front of the Northern Range IG office protesting Mishra's arrest. The saffron party claimed that the arrest of Mishra was politically motivated and alleged that the police is working as per the instructions of the ruling party.

Later on April 17, after deposing before Civil Judge Junior Division court in connection with 2016 sword brandishing case, Mishra alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his private secretary V Karthikeyan Pandian have hatched a conspiracy to get him arrested in connection with the Sohela Banabira firing case.

He said CM Patnaik and Pandian had asked him to join BJD and he is now being targeted for rejecting their offer.
