Bhubaneswar: Newly appointed Health minister Pradip Amat today said action will be taken against the SUM Hospital as per the law of the land.

Talking to media persons, Amat said, “Appropriate action will be taken against the persons responsible for the fire mishap.”

He added, “As I have been handling the responsibilities given to me by the Chief Minister properly till now, I believe the same kind of work will be done in case of the Health department as well.”

Notably, Amat was given additional charge of the Health and Welfare department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak tendered his resignation on moral grounds in the wake of the hospital fire tragedy yesterday.

Amat, who is also Finance Minister of the State, is a senior minister in the Naveen Patnaik Cabinet.

Amat, a seasoned politician, has earlier been in charge of many important ministries besides being Speaker of the Odisha Assembly.
