Aparajita resigns from Congress, likely to join BJP

Bhubaneswar: Odia actress Aparajita Mohanty resigned from the Congress party on Tuesday.

She had joined the Congress on February 20, 2014 in presence of the then Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena, Mohammed Moqim and hundreds of party workers in Bhubaneswar.

Later, she had also contested for the Cuttack Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 general elections. Her grandfather Abdul Sohan Ali Khan was also a Congress activist and former law minister of the state.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that she will soon join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
