Lanjigarh: The anti-Vedanta protests reared head once again after the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti staged a demonstration in front of the company’s Lanjigarh plant.

Hundreds of tribals along with members of various forums took out a rally and staged a dharna in front of the plant.

According to sources, the protestors also tried to break the barricades and entered into a scuffle with the police.

The protests were triggered after the Union Home ministry linked the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti with Maoists.

“The company has come here to take away our land and to prevent them from doing it we have launched our protest,” said President of the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samity, Dadhi Kusika.

“The protestors are demanding development of the area with all facilities. Police arrangements have been made and a total of 4 platoons of police force have been deployed,” said Kesinga SDPO, Jagmohan Meena.
