Nuapada: Close on the heels of the capture of a man-eater leopard that had unleashed terror, the forest department officials have managed to trap another leopard in Haladi village of Nuapada district.

Official sources said the breakthrough came this evening after the leopard fell into the trap laid up by the forest department officials.

Confirming the development, senior officials also informed that earlier a man-eater leopard was captured after it had killed a four-year-old at Haladi village on May 26.

The leopard created panic after it attacked and injured two more persons on July 9.

Keeping in view the rise in man-animal conflict, the forest department then swung into action and had laid traps at different locations including areas close to Haladi village.

The efforts of the forest department finally paid off when the suspected man-eater leopard was caught on July 15. Later it was sent to Nandankanan zoo in Bhubaneswar.

It is for the second time that a leopard has been captured close to human settlement. The locals meanwhile have appreciated the efforts of the forest department.
