Another criminal injured in police encounter in Berhampur

Berhampur: Continuing with its ongoing crackdown on criminals, police nabbed a hardcore anti-social Muna Sahu and one of his aides after an encounter.

This is the second encounter to be reported in the district in the last two days while four criminals have been nabbed in such special operation.

According to reports, Muna and his accomplice Radha Krushna Sahu were injured in a shoot out by police last night.

The development came after three special teams were formed to nab the miscreants involved in a bombing on a liquor shop in Berhampur yesterday. At least five staff of the liquor shop were injured in the attack.

Senior officials informed that acting on a tip-off that three miscreants involved in the bombing were traveling towards Jaleswar Khandi road, a special team of Gosaninuagaon police station intercepted them.

On being challenged, the miscreants first opened fired at the police team who also retaliated and subsequently Muna and his aide Radha Krushna were injured in the exchange of fire. Both of them sustained bullet injury on their legs and were admitted to hospital.

One country made pistol, four rounds of live ammunition, three bombs and a motorcycle have been seized from their possession.
