Bhubaneswar: In yet another blow to the homegrown charted carrier Air Odisha, a fraud case was filed against the company at Khandagiri police station here today following a court order.

According to sources, the case was registered following the order of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) after city-based businessman Mitesh Khimiji alleged that though he had bought 40 per cent shares of the company by paying Rs 1.5 crores, he didn’t receive any profits as per the contract.

Hearing the case, the SDJM court on Thursday had directed the Kharavel Nagar police to register a case against the company and its directors under section 406, 417, 420, 506 and 120 (B) of IPC and initiate a probe into the matter.

Khimji further alleged that the inter-state carrier diverted the money to some other account, in contravention of the agreement between them.

It may be recalled that Sandeep Ray, another businessman and son of BJP MLA from Rourkela Dilip Ray, had filed a cheating case against the carrier at Khandagiri police station on March 25 accusing the promoter of the charted flight of not returning the Rs 40 lakhs which he had invested with a promise of owning 40% stake in the company.

In his complaint, Sandeep had claimed that he had invested Rs 80 lakh and was promised a 40% stake in the company. Though he got back Rs 40 lakh, he wanted his remaining invested amount. When he asked them to return it, the company resorted to dilly-dallying tactics and allegedly issued invalid cheques amounting to Rs 40 lakh
