Bhubaneswar: The annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations commenced today  with a total of 6,08,070 candidates appearing in the examinations at 2,983 centres across the State.

On the first day of the test, the students attended the First Language paper. As per the schedule, the examination started from 9 am and continued till 11 am. However, the students were asked to enter the centres by 8.30 am and receive the OMR sheet. The question-cum-answer booklet was be handed over to the students by 8.45 am to read the questions for 15 minutes.

As per the format, students have to appear objective type questions in the first hour of the examination. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) had made elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of the test. Three-tier squad have been formed to keep a close eye on centres to check malpractice.

For first of its kind, the name of the candidates have been printed on the OMR sheets this year. "After getting the OMR sheet,candidates should ensure that that was correct one. We have printed the name of the examinees on the sheet this year. The candidate has to darken the set code properly and invigilators have been asked for proper attestation of the sheet." said Nihar Ranjan Mohanty, Controller of Examination, BSE.
