Cuttack: Angul police today busted a major inter-state diesel theft racket with the arrest of three persons from Cuttack. The three were allegedly involved in theft of diesel worth over Rs 30 lakh.

As per reports, at around 1 PM today a special team of Angul police with the help of Badambadi police nabbed the prime accused Karan Sharma who is a resident of Delhi and two of his associates, both non-Odias, from Shakti Nagar area in Cuttack.

Cuttack DCP informed that a blueprint was prepared to nab them as they kept on changing their hideouts. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at Shakti Nagar area and nabbed the three.

Locals informed that the accused were staying in the area since last three months. They did not usually come out the house during the day and carried out their business during night, said locals.

The accused used to steal diesel from vehicles by stopping them at various places in and outside Odisha. A case had been lodged against them in Angul following which police had launched a manhunt.

Angul SP Brijesh Ray informed that the details will be revealed soon in a press conference.
Meanwhile, police have detained the three for interrogation and investigation is underway suspecting involvement of a few more persons in the case.
