Bhubaneswar: Hours before the start of the National Executive Meet, BJP chief Amit Shah’s cutouts put up along Power House chowk were defaced by some unidentified miscreants here in Bhubaneswar.

Though police are yet to identify the culprits, senior leaders of the saffron party suspect the involvement of political rivals behind such ‘mischievous activities’.

"It is an unfortunate incident. We condemn the incident as such act is against the culture and tradition for which Odisha is popular across the world," said senior BJP leader Suresh Pujari.

Pujari indicated that BJD might have resorted to such mischievous activity as the leaders are worried over the strong emergence of BJP in Odisha. Earlier, BJP had also put up a good show in the recently concluded panchayat elections.

BJD Spokesperson Dibya Shankar Mishra on the other hand clearly denied the involvement of BJD behind the incident.

The incident has certainly warmed up political activities ahead of the BJP’s National Executive Meet to be held at Bhubaneswar today.

Senior leaders of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with 335 members of the National Executive Meet and Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states will be attending the mega event here in Odisha.

Tight security arrangements have also been made for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is expected to arrive at Bhubaneswar at around 3:30 pm today.

Over 300 police personnel would be engaged for security and traffic arrangements during the two-day BJP National Executive Meeting being held for the first time in Odisha.
