All unmanned level crossings in State to go by 2020

Bhubaneswar: All unmanned level crossings in the State will be replaced by subway, road underbridge or overbridge by the end of 2020.

On the occasion of International level crossing week, East Coast Railway has informed that 'gate mitra' will also be employed at some places to check the rising accidents.

While celebrating the level crossing week, delegates stressed on awareness to prevent accidents at unmanned level crossings.

Around 40 people were killed and 23 cases of injuries reported in mishaps at unmanned level crossing in the state in the last five years.

Sambalpur division has registered the maximum of 27 deaths and 13 injury cases in these five years.
