Bhubaneswar: Air Odisha will launch its flight services from the newly-licensed Jharsuguda airport under the Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme from June 14.

"All preparations from our side are complete to launch flight services from June 14.  We will be using 18-seater twin-engine aircrafts. Jharsuguda will connect to Raipur and Ranchi also," said Head of Operations of Air Odisha, Santosh Kumar Pani.

According to sources, Air Odisha flight will take off from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 5.50 AM on June 14 and reach Jharsuguda at 6.40 AM. Apart from Jharsuguda-Bhubaneswar, the Air Asia flight will also connect Jharsuguda with Raipur and Ranchi.

While the fare for passengers travelling from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda has been stipulated at Rs 1,750, the tickets from Jharsuguda to Raipur and Ranchi will cost Rs 1, 670 each.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday granted licence to Jharsuguda airport, which is one of the five airports in Odisha chosen to provide regional flight connectivity under the Udan scheme, which also includes Biju Patnaik Airport.

The other airports, including Utkela in Kalahandi, Jeypore in Koraput and Rourkela in Sundargarh are also likely to be given clearances by the Civil Aviation Ministry soon, informed sources.
