Bhubaneswar: Gitanjali Batmanabane has been appointed as the new director of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubanswar. Batmanabane, who is currently the head of the department of the Pharmacology department of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, will replace Ashok Mohapatra as director.

While speaking to OTV, Batmanabane said that her priority is to introduce new courses and to resolve various issues of the hospital.

“I have to look at the Medical education part and see what new courses we can start. In the hospital services side, we need to prioritise the areas in which we can excel. We have to finalise the aspects in which we can become the best the best in the country. The present director of the AIIMS Bhubaneswar has given it a great headstart and that has to be strengthened and taken forward,” said Batmanabane

Prior to JIPMER, Batmanabane had worked with the World Health Organisation from 2010 to 2012.

On the other hand, replaced Ashok Mohapatra will return back to AIIMS New Delhi.
