Berhampur: In a unique protest against corruption and irregularities in housing projects, members of Lok Shakti Abhiyan today staged demonstration by blowing whistles in front of Berhampur MLA Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik's residence.

The protesters, which included residents from slums, demanded immediate resignation of the MLA.

Madhusudan Sethi of Lok Shakti Abhiyan said "We are here to ask the MLA what he has done in last 23 years for the people. Naveen-government should give an explanation on how many houses have allotted to the poor."

On the other hand, the Berhampur MLA has refuted the allegations.

"In Naveen Patnaik's government there is no scope for corruption. According to law, the offenders will be punished. If there is any corruption involved in housing schemes, an investigation will be done. We are in the process of providing homes to the beneficiaries," said Chyau Patnaik.
