Puri: After Malkangiri, the deadly Japanese Encephalitis has spread its tentacles as an 11-year-old in Puri died of the disease on Thursday morning, while another 14-year-old boy from Nilagiri in Balasore suffering from the disease was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Kiran Barik of Bengama village under Brahmagiri block.

Puri CDMO said “Five persons including the minor was tested positive for the vector-born disease in May. They were shifted to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack,” informed.

“After treatment the health condition of four other persons are stated to be stable,” the CDMO added.

Another 14-year-old identified as Sushant Kunwar from Nilagiri in Balasore has been admitted to Cuttack hospital to receive treatment for Japanese Encephalitis. Till last reports came in Sushant's health condition was stable according to the doctors.

Notably, 38 children in Malkangiri district have died of the Encephalitis in last 28 days.
