Cuttack: Another adulterated ghee manufacturing unit was raided by police in Cuttack today. The unit situated at Professorpada under Mangalabag Police limits in Cuttack was involved in adulterating many brands of ghee available in the market.

According to sources, labels of various brands of ghee like Omfed, Devi & Durga, packing containers and other paraphernalia used for adulterating have been seized by police. Moreover, police have arrested one person in this connection. The arrested person has been identified as Subash Chandra Behera.

The unit was reportedly manufacturing ghee with almost 90% adulteration by mixing various chemicals. The unit was operational in the area since the past six months, informed sources.

“From preliminary investigations, it has been found out that the unit was using palm oil and other chemicals to manufacture ghee. The unit was supplying ghee to various grocers in Cuttack town,” informed Mangalabag Police Station IIC, Arun Swain.
