Jharsuguda: An accident victim died after the driver of the auto rickshaw he was travelling in, abandoned him on the road instead of taking to hospital at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district.

Police sources said, three from West Bengal- Subhasis Mallik, Prabir Mallik and Jadav Santra- hired an auto rickshaw to go to Belpahar from Jharsuguda station. The auto driver lost control and hit a stationary truck at Sukhabandha on Jharsuguda-Belpahar road in which Prabir and Jadav sustained critical injuries.

Though the driver took them back to Jharsuguda, he allegedly abandoned them on the road near BTM square instead of admitting them to hospital.

Later, police rescued both the injured and rushed them to hospital where Jadav was declared brought dead.

"We have started an inquiry to nab the auto driver. The body has been seized for post-mortem," said Saroj Sahoo, ASI of Jharsuguda Police Station.
