Cuttack: Tension ran high after ABVP activists scuffled with Board of Secondary Education (BSE) officials on Tuesday. The outfit was protesting incidents of matriculation examination paper going viral on social media.

Over 30 ABVP activists stormed into the BSE headquarters at around 11 am and clashed with the security guards and officials while they tried to prevent them.

The activists damaged the main gate of the BSE office and allegedly tried to ransack property. The outfit had staged the demonstration demanding action against the officials behind circulating the matriculation question paper on social media.

After getting information about the incident, senior officials of Commissionerate Police led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Akhileswar Singh and Assistant Commissioner of Police of several zones rushed to the spot.

According to reports, Commissionerate police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the ABVP activists from the BSE headquarters.

Over 15 activists have been taken into preventive custody while further details in connection with the incident are awaited.

Meanwhile, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh informed that 21 activists, including a woman have been arrested for barging into the BSE office.
