AAP activists demand reopening of Deogaon sugar mill

Bolangir: Activists of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) staged a demonstration in front of the Bolangir district Collectorate today demanding restoration of Bijayananda Sugar Mill in Deogaon of the district.

The activists along with the agitating sugarcane growers gheraoed the Collector office and burnt sugarcanes as a mark of protest.

The party activists alleged that a meeting was held between sugarcane farmers, district administration and people’s representatives, where it was decided to reopen the sugar mill, the only industry in entire Bolangir. However, no concrete steps have yet been taken in this regard, they added.
