90 Odia labourers tortured in Daman

Angul: About 90 Odia labourers working in a private company in Daman have been tortured, allege family members.

Informing the media today, the family members alleged that the 90 Odia labourers from Angul, Athamallik and Kishorenagar areas are presently working in Prititi Industries, a glass manufacturing company, in Daman. But the company authorities have not paid them their salary since last three months. Apart from this, the company is not giving EPF account details to them, they added.

They also informed that the Odia labourers are threatened by the local and police and goons if they are trying to bring their problems to the notice of the company through agitation.

Due to non-payment of salary, these Odia labourers have gone without food and are not able to return to their home.

The panicked families have urged the district administration for urgent intervention in this matter and take necessary steps to bring back their kin from Daman.
