Sambalpur: Around 90 activists of the Congress and the BJP were detained by the Sambalpur police ahead of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's visit the district today.

So far, 67 BJP activists, including former MLA Jay Narayan Mishra and five Congress activists have been detained by the police. While former MLA Jay Narayan was kept at the Sasan police station, 18 were kept at the Mahila police station.

Police said elaborate security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident during the CM visit.

Patnaik would visit then district to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects, including a new bus terminal at Ainthapali. He would also launch the free pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens at Khetrajpur railway station.
