Bhubaneswar/ Berhampur/ Khurda/ Nayagarh: As many as 9 persons were killed in Odisha is separate road accidents.

Four from a family were killed in Gosani Nuagaon in Berhampur after a bus hit a motorbike from behind. According to sources, Santosh Gouda of Banthapalli Kachadapalli village was travelling on his motorcycle along with his family members when the accident occurred.

While Santosh and 2 children died on the spot, his wife succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. Another child is currently undergoing treatment at Berhampur hospital.

In the meantime, police have launched an investigation into the accident. The driver of the bus is absconding.

“In the accident, Santosh Gouda and his two children were killed on the spot while his wife died at the hospital. Another child is undergoing treatment. We will request the executive engineer of the PWD to make provisions for speed controllers,” said Thakur Prasad Patra, Traffic SDPO of Berhampur.

On the other hand, on the NH-16 at Tangi a Car rammed into the back of a truck leaving three persons dead and three others injured. The injured have been admitted to the Tangi hospital. According to sources, the ill-fated car was on its way to Berhampur from Bhubaneswar.

Similarly, in another road accident a woman and her son were killed near Nandighor of Odagaon block in Nayagarh. While the woman identified as Geli Rout died on the spot, her son Benu Rout succumbed to his injuries at the Nayagarh district headquarters hospital.
