As per police sources, the accused on December 1 had intercepted the cash van and looted Rs 25 lakh by terrorizing the staff on gun point near Sorada under Bisra police limits in Rourkela.

The incident occurred at around 9 pm when the cash van was on its way to load cash in an ATM counter.

A rifle, motorcycle used in the crime and other sharp weapons have also been seized from the gang members.

“We have already issued letters to banks and other institutions to get the criminal antecedents of the people before recruiting them and will also issue advisory to take police help in case of transporting huge amount of money on their own,” Jalan added.
