Bargarh: In yet another major success to the Odisha police against fake note circulation in the State, at least nine persons including two women were arrested with over Rs 6 lakh here on Tuesday.

The district police seized Rs 6,12,400 from the possession of the accused. The seizure amount comprised fake notes of Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 denominations.

Bargarh Superintendent of Police Jugal Kishor informed media persons that Krushna Meher of Nakatamunda in Sonepur district was making the counterfeit currency and operating the racket from his home in Bargarh.

"We have seized one computer, two scanners, fake currency papers, rubber stamp and other materials from his resident," he added.

Notably, Meher also faces charges in several other criminal cases.

Earlier this month in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate police had busted a fake currency racket at Salia Sahi slum and seized at least 32 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination.
